Novel evaluation of the expression patterns CD44 and MMP9 proteins in intracranial meningiomas and their relationship to the overall survival

Abstract Background Meningiomas are common primary brain neoplasms. CD44 is a cell surface glycoprotein receptor that involved in matrix-mediated signaling and cell–matrix adhesion. Matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) plays important role angiogenesis tumor invasion. The expression of protein membranous cytoplasmic (CD44M CD44C) has been reported several tumors (such as lobular carcinoma, renal sinonasal melanoma, lymphoma) except CNS tumors. Methods This study addressed the CD44M CD44C MMP9 proteins intracranial meningiomas their relationship to overall survival. patterns CD44M&C MMP-9 were examined 32 cases benign meningiomas, 12 atypical 6 anaplastic using immunohistochemical staining methods.
